The Black Ladd is a true British classic pub.
What some might call dingy and dated others would label as classic and cosy! It's old-school white walled with beams that have been given a mahagony coloured gloss so many times that they're now three inches thicker than when the pub opened some time in the 1800's!
This is a favourite for pub grub, with massive portions at a very reasonable price. I recommend the Black Ladd burger for a deliciously satisfying meal, a thick juicy hand made burger cooked fresh, topped with a perfectly fried egg, bacon and cheese.
God knows how many calories it contains, but it's worth it.
The location is fantastic if you manage to get a window seat overlooking Oldham and the surrounding hillsides. -

We were refused a seat in the 'pub' section, even though it was free, because we didn't make a reservation and 'they needed it for people to wait.' We just wanted a drink. I'm sure their food is very good, but beware: this is a restaurant and not a pub. And they have the manners of neither.
